About Christine Stevens Harvest
Christine has always had a passion for growing produce and the natural world, instilled from an early age growing up on a smallholding in the Sussex Countryside.
The passionate hobby became a professional career when she moved onto an Organic Farm outside Wolsey to bring up her family.
It is here the Harvest series of books were written and published, aimed at providing information and inspiration for a Garden to Table lifestyle.
While visiting various pack houses christine became aware of how much processing takes place while packing fresh ingredients for supermarkets, meaning they were no longer really fresh, but over processed.
As a result, Christine started working with restaurants and delis in 2010, helping chefs grow and source their own supply of seasonal produce and follow more sustainable methods.
She has worked in collaboration with many of South Africa’s top restaurants, chefs and farms including Foliage, Spier, Chefs warehouse, La Colombe group, Newmark hotels, Rueben’s, Le Petite Ferme and Leeu Collection.
Christine moved to Stanford in 2020 and has recently started collaborating with local restaurants and fresh food outlets.
Her loose leaf organic tea range was launched in 2022 after discovering that tea bags contain a huge amount of nanoplastics. A natural vinegar range has been developed that contains no preservatives or sulphur. More products are in the pipeline for 2023.
